I’d love a narrative explanation of the start and major points of the war, even ww1. I’m reading the nightingale by Kristen Hannah and while it’s historical fiction, I’m interested in the history parts (that may or may not be accurate). Could be fiction or a really great non fiction resource. I’ve not bee super into war novels before but my mind is definitely not set!

*The Winds of War* (and its sequel) by Herman Wouk are historical novels that cover WW2, both in Europe and the Pacific (book two). The man knew his history.
The Meaning of the Second World War by Ernest Mandel
Chief Culprit by Victor Suvorov. (argues that Stalin was ready to invade Germany but Hitler beat him to the punch).
The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William Shirer – written by a journalist, reads like a suspense novel
Unbroken – Laura Hillenbrand
Incredible World War Two books:
– The Perfect Nazi: Uncovering My Grandfather’s Secret Past by Martin Davidson
– Night by Elie Wiesel
– Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand
– Three Sisters by Heather Morris
– Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl
– The Perfect Horse by Elizabeth Letts
The Nightingale is an incredible book as well. I would recommend another of Kristin Hannah’s historical fiction pieces called The Four Winds.
A man called Intrepid.
