Piggy-backing off of my last post where I got some great replies to book series, I’m curious to see the books that others find to be “must tries”!
I’ve always been a sci-fi fan, currently expanding a bit into the fantasy genre. Non-fiction self-help books have always also been around for me, but lately I’ve been wanting to either expand into mystery/thriller, or find some hidden gems (or popular books I may not have heard of) in sci-fi and fantasy!
Been making it a habit to check out local bookstores everywhere I travel to, and would be intrigued to check out some of the recommendations y’all have!
Much appreciated in advance, have a great one!

The Night Circus! It’s not for everyone, the plot isn’t anything to write home about, but the author’s writing soothes a part of my soul I never knew I needed soothed. The characters are so well done and unique and the atmosphere of the entire novel makes me yearn for a place that doesn’t exist 😍
Death World by Harry Harrison
To Be Taught, If Fortunate is a great, light, character-driven novella by Becky Chambers. The last act brought me to tears. It’s definitely worth the read.
Lords Of Discipline by Pat Conroy
Mysteries:
Everyone in My Family has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson
The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton
