I struggle to see myself in a lot of queer fiction I come across and I’m starting to realize that it’s because they’re all from backgrounds that I can’t really identify with. If there’s a gay romance where AT LEAST the primary male lead is living in a setting that’s a realistic portrayal of poverty, ESPECIALLY if it isn’t either glamorized or trauma porn, I would be giddy.
Not PARTICULARLY looking for fantasy settings but I’ll settle for those I just want to clarify that fantasy-poverty that’s a part of some broader world-building isn’t really what I’m looking for.
