I really love how Madeline Miller was able to retell myths in such a palatable, beautiful way. I’m looking for something similar, but with a historical narrative. I don’t mind whether it’s fiction, nonfiction, or a blend of both. Some specific eras/events I’m interested in are:
- Rise and fall of the Roman Empire (something detailing the political intricacies and rulers of this era)
- Ancient Egypt
- Medieval era

Kingsbridge series by ken follett ie pillars of the earth world without end the morning and evening. Long but entertaining reads with good characters. Gates of fire Steven pressfield interesting look at spartan culture and the war against Persia.
