Hello!
Does anyone have any good recommendations for books about characters/people who were neglected by their mom/unloved by her? Characters who are the least favorite out of them and their siblings if any
I've searched for mommy issue books before but most are something different from what I'm looking for
Can be any genre, nonfiction or not, fantasy, sci-fi, whatever 🙂 Thanks!

A Child Called It
Sickened by Julie Gregory
I’m reading a biography about Clementine Churchill and her childhood makes me want to cry. But that’s been a running theme in a lot of British memoirs I’ve read.
Jacob Have I Loved by Katherine Paterson.
Almost all books by VC Andrews lol
The Fifth Child, Doris Lesser
Suggie Bain is a great book about a really unhealthy relationship between a mother and her son.
Ooooof. Solidarity, sib. I’m not gonna lie, I tend to avoid books about mothers and daughters for the same reasons you seek them out. But here’s a couple that hit notes you might like.
The Time of the Ghost by Diana Wynne Jones- middle grade folk horror, time travel, large family, neglectful parents. Each of the kids has their role to play in the family drama.
It’s more “daddy issues” than “mommy issues”, but you might get something out of Heir Apparent by Vivian Vande Veld. Middle grade, cyberpunk, charmingly late 90s but still relevant.
I know I keep recommending it, but The Green Futures of Tycho by William Sleator might be up your alley. Middle grade SF/horror; the least impressive kid in a family of prodigies gains the power to time travel and starts trying to use it to get some goddamn attention for once. Very Bad Things ensue.
