So I got into the Dune book series after watching the first of Denis Villenueve's adaptation. I'm currently reading Children of Dune (book 3) and am loving it. The overall story of the series is amazing but what really drew me in was the depth of world building and lore that Frank Herbert incorporates in his story telling. I'm looking for another book/series with similar depth in world building, bonus points for political intrigue and mystery. Doesn't have to be another sci-fi series, in fact I'd love to branch out a bit in the genres I read. Thanks!

You might enjoy the *Children of time* trilogy by Adrian Tchaikovsky and the *Revelation space* series by Alastair Reynolds. Both are sci-fi with beautifully developed worlds and societies.
