I’m looking for a good, adventurous historical fiction novel to read. Any era, any place on Earth, I just want an epic, entertaining adventure yarn in a well-detailed historical setting.
Girl in Disguise by Greer McAllister is a fictionalized account of the first woman Pinkerton agent. It’s really well done and gives an excellent sense of the era, and has moments of real excitement and peril.
Lindsey Davis’ Falco mysteries are set in ancient Rome and are incredibly well-written and researched. She’s a very funny author as well, and her characters are delightful. Lots of adventure and excitement.
