I recently read and enjoyed The Road. His writing style caught me a bit off guard with the endless amounts of detail poured into long run-on sentences without proper punctuation and whatever else. There would be times where I’d get so overwhelmed reading a paragraph which ended up being like a sentence and I realized my brain didn’t even process what it said. All in all I still enjoyed The Road so I decided to give Blood Meridian a shot.

I’m about 4 chapters in and I’m very into it so far, however I find myself having the same problems at times but it seems even worse in this book than the road. I just finished a chapter with little to no dialogue that described them going through the desert then being attacked by Comanches. Most of it didnt even stick in my brain honestly.

Does anyone have any tips to not feel so lost while reading him? Is there any reason he does this and he’s such a celebrated author? No hate for him or his style at all but I’m genuinely curious. Also I’m still new-ish to devoted reading so maybe I just haven’t seen many authors like this
