Just finished this book an hour or so ago. I searched and found a lot of people that discussed “the end” i.e. the conversation between Kathy H, Tommy, Madame, and Miss Emily. It was a great moment in the book and had me on the edge of my seat. But this wasn’t the ending.
The actual ending is when Kath goes out to Norfolk and see the debris brushing against a fence by a field. Then she fantasized for a moment that she would see Tommy there waving… something that she lost that she found again in Norfolk.
Damn now that is an emotional ending that not many seem to discuss. Way more impactful than the clone reveal sit-down (which was still good but not exactly revelatory).
Anyway. Tommy ruled and that ending was really sad… even though the reader knows it’s coming.
