Is Dune a good choice for a casual reader?

Recently I read the Three body problem book, but I don't feel like continuing the book series as of now and I want to read something else. I came across Dune as I have heard the title lots of times and just wondered if it is not too complicated for someone who just entered the sci-fi genre.

As of now I have never been exposed to its universe I just now the basics like that it is on a desert planet with giant worms but not much else.
