Need help finding things to read

I'm in Portland and need things to read. I go to Powell's and feel overwhelmed by so many books n things.

What I need:

Something actually good

Not gouge my eyes out depressing

I enjoy strong wit, comedy, even dark

I'm game for any genre

Fiction (sci-fi too) would be my preference. I tend to read a lot of non-fiction.

I tend to read a lot of plays too
