Before this book, I had only read the author's "The Deal" and "The Mistake". And if I consider them to be straight good books, then this one is bad, but I liked it.

The story tells about RJ, who is transferred to Sandover Academy, he does not like it there, but soon he meets a beautiful girl and now he is trying to get her hand in any way.

I will say this, I like the way the author makes romantic lines in his books. The problems that the characters had were not due to a misunderstanding of the situation, just the opposite, and I like that the author creates such asshole actions for the characters that can be corrected, and not as usual, where a man can abuse the heroine, and then she forgives him (I look at you "After"). That's why you believe in them.

But the rest are poorly made. They either feel unfinished or poorly finished, or maybe both. For example, I did not feel that RJ began to change his mind about the academy, because so little time was given to it that you just blink and he already likes studying there. And Lawson's arch just felt unnecessary. He just wants to have sex with two teachers. That's all. You can just skip the chapters with him and nothing will change.

They are remembered. With their usual design, their characters are interesting. I especially like R.J. and Sloan. Both are essentially singles who start relationships with each other, but they are funny and it hurts when something bad happens to them. But the one who pissed me off was Lawson. His every dialogue is how he wants sex, and when he is somewhere on the sidelines it is still tolerable, but in chapters on his behalf he just wants to strangle or castrate him so that he stops talking about how he wants to take in his mouth. And at the same time, this character had potential, because he is prone to self-destruction and has a bad relationship with his parents. But it doesn't develop beyond the fact.

I like the author's writing style. It is quite light, and the descriptions are well done.

Overall, this book is inherently bad. It looks like a bookish, lite version of Riverdale. There are a lot of cliches from teen comedies where everyone is doing anything but studying. And that's what I wanted. I found out about this book from a Book Leo review and she scolded it, but I thought: "This is what I need right now."
