All I want is a book about a grown ass lesbian trying to live her life in current times. No YA, no fantasy, no historical fiction, no romcoms. Think 'Saint Frances', 'Young Adult', 'Bridesmaids', 'Obvious Child' (these are all movie titles about straight women because I cannot for the life of me find their lesbian book counterparts). I don't mind romance if it's a subplot or if it's giving Sally Rooney or Chloe Caldwell vibes. Those tropey, romance novels with brightly coloured illustrated covers I cannot do. Bonus points if the writing style is conversational and accessible like the work of Michelle Tea, Samantha Irby and Jessi Klein. And yes, I've read 'Big Swiss', 'Exalted', 'In At the Deep End', 'Sedating Elaine', 'Greta & Valdin'. Please tell me there are other lesbian books out there…
