After the release of the new Dune movies which have become my new obsession I decided to read the books, and have now completed the first four books in the Frank Herbert series. Honestly I’ve loved each one of them and they have all been amazing, seriously some of the best fiction I’ve ever experienced, the fourth one in particular was an absolute masterpiece and also tends to be a fan favourite.

I was a little hesitant to finish the last two books though partly because they start a new part of the story that was unfinished by Frank Herbert and also the fact that the last two books seem to be negatively received by readers. So I decided to take a little break from the series and read something else and come back later.

After just finishing Heretics of Dune, I can’t seem to understand why so many people hate this one. It’s one of the best in the series for sure and it’s an incredible book.

For me this book has a balance of everything, incredible action scenes, a well written and fascinating cast of characters and factions, it adds a brand new vastness to the lore and depth of this universe, and on top of all that the mystery and intrigue to the plot was complex, deep but thoroughly entertaining. Look yes, it did get overly weirder than usual at times in this book and Herbert explored some weird themes in it. But honestly nothing as bad as everyone made it out to be.

This book was really fun to read and I absolutely loved it and I’m really excited to finish the series as it’s been honestly incredible. I’m curious to hear what you thought of this book and Chapterhouse Dune, as well as the 6 book series as a whole.
