So I’m a pretty negative, fairly misanthropic person. I love the beauty of the natural world, love children and animals, and love reading.

Can anyone recommend a book that helped you be happier, or find more peace with the world, or even helped you find meaning? I want to be a nicer, calmer, less harried person. I have young kids and I want to set a better example for them.

I’m not religious and generally won’t touch religious books with a ten foot pole except maybe Buddhism. Buddhism seems… nice.

    Thank you

      Anne of Green Gables.

Yes it’s fiction and a children’s story essentially. But Anne’s view of the world is so positive and optimistic and honestly left me with such a warm feeling. Lots of lessons to be learned regarding the beauty of nature, friendships, curiosity and being content with yourself.

    2. I really enjoyed **House in the Cerulean Sea** by TJ Klune. It was a cozy fantasy, funny, sweet, some deeper moments but overall very uplifting and redeems humanity a bit haha
