Im in between books right now and am looking for a fun fantasy where stakes aren't so high. I have read alot of Brandon Sanderson and Joe Abercrombie and really liked their books but I am taking a break from those kind of books for now. Im now looking for something a little lighter, something where the stakes aren't so high (ie, saving the world). I tried to read Going Postal by Terry Pratchett because the Discworld series seems exactly what I am looking for however I didn't really care for his outlandish humor. I also don't really want to get into another book series so something like Ready Player One would be the perfect book if I hadnt already read it.

Magic 2.0, the main characters are immortal and lazy, so low stakes
Sanderson’s new book, Tress, is about saving one guy instead of a world
The World of the Five Gods books by Lois McMaster Bujold has lower stakes.
The first book in the series is *The Curse of Chalion* and affects the Kingdom of Chalion. The second is *Paladin of Souls* and affects a few provinces of Chalion. The third is *The Hallowed Hunt* which affects the Kingdom of the Weald.
The Penric books are even smaller scale. They rarely affect an entire Kingdom and often are quite local. The newest one–*Penric and the Bandit*, published this week–is very localized. The first book is called *Penric’s Demon*.
Most books in the Fantasy of Manners subgenre have smaller stakes and are often more fun and lighthearted. *Sorcery and Cecelia, Daughter of Mystery, Shades of Milk and Honey, Scales and Sensibility, Snowspelled, Tea and Sympathetic Magic.*
*Legends and Lattes* by Travis Baldree is about an orc who retires from adventuring and opens a café.
I recommend checking out the CozyFantasy subreddit!
