I'm looking for something that will stun me to the point where you have to take a moment and go pet your dog while you think about that the idea, thought, or situation the author just shared with their audience. I want to feel anger, shock, joy, sadness. Needs depth, fiction or non-fiction, I want to feel all the feelings the character feels and I want to know more than just the obvious, if non-fiction.
Could include topics about narcissism, feminism (maybe even bordering on misandrism), modern capitalistic society, small town mindsets, sex and kink, and any other topics that either are considered controversial or things that people dont really talk about.
I loved When God Was a Woman by Merlin Stone if that helps.

Alissa Nutting’s “Tampa” follows Celeste Price, a smoldering 26-year-old middle-school teacher in Florida, who unrepentantly recounts her elaborate and sociopathically determined seduction of a 14-year-old student.
