I need books that are just light and happy, but are not necessarily rom-com books.
I have been struggling with my mental health for a while, and have made the “mistake” of reading A Little Life (I loved the book, but it was the cherry on top of my already high depression cake). I mainly read mystery and thrillers, or contemporary fiction, but now all of those seem to heavy to me and contribute to my slump… Reading is my favorite form of relaxation and I don’t want to give that up.
I have nothing against romance/comedy books, just not my usual taste, but if you have any good suggestions, go ahead! No self-help books, please.
PS: I have been going to therapy and am working o my mental health, don’t worry! This is just about books that make me feel happy!

Maybe try the Jeeves and Wooster books by P.G. Wodehouse. They’re hilarious and very lighthearted!
If you’re open to trying fantasy, Terry Pratchett is my go to when I’m deep in depression. It’s funny and a bit philosophical and never mean. I’d suggest starting with Guards! Guards!
Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K Jerome. It’s pretty funny.
Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. A meditation on the joys of summer in a small town.
If you’re open to very long books, I highly recommend [The Hands of the Emperor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/af2bba9c-8f41-4a3e-b87a-8532a44ccb67) by Victoria Goddard! It’s a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.
In A Sunburned Country by Bill Bryson
The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams
The Sex Lives Of Cannibals by J Maarten Troost
