Hello readers from all around! I got into a reading slump within this last week and it’s been really hard for me to even pick up a book to try to read.
What are some books that got you out of a depressive reading slump? I can’t really read High Fantasy so if you have any suggestions other than that I would be open to but if that’s the option you have I don’t mind at all.
Thank you very much and I look forward to seeing what gets put down!

Honestly, for me the thing that breaks me out of a reading slump is going back to reread a book I already love. It’s like training wheels for jumping back into making reading a daily habit.
For me it was Fever Dream by Samanta Schweblin. After years of reading almost nothing I read it in just two afternoons, really sparked my enthusiasm for reading again.
janet evonivich’s stephine plum series…one for the money….two for the show….. they move fast, funny, easy reads…. not bogged down with useless drivel…… try ’em, you’ll like ’em
Mister Magic. Someone’s suggested it on this subreddit and it literally changed my life. It’s such a beautifully written thriller with an incredible concept!! I even bought it for someone as a birthday present because I loved it so much!!
The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal, by Christopher Moore got me out of a 3 year slump.
Terry Pratchetts discworld series. The Night. Watch and Guards Guards!
It was some book by Osho. I can’t remember the name rn.
Open, Andre Agassi bio. It’s unputdownable.
11/22/63 got me out of about a 15 year slump.
Read all the time for fun until I was a teen, but between high school sports, college, partying, studying for professional exams, and other things I’m likely forgetting, I probably only read a half dozen books for fun (if that) between ages 15 and 30.
Picked up 11/22/63 on a whim because back when I was reading, I liked SK. Completely devoured it and it made me remember I liked reading. Been reading fairly regularly since.
This book wouldn’t appeal to everyone but it got me out of my recent slump. It is “fever Chart” by Bill Cotter. Insightfull and entertaining all the way through.
