I’m currently making my way through The Eldross Legacy, it’s a fantasy series that is a shared universe between 4-5 authors (I’m blanking at the moment) and the whole story intertwines between books and uses different names for the forms of magic in the world. While I’ve only marked 1-2 characters that cross between books it’s in the background and clearly points to a greater game being played and offering some additional context.
Has anyone else read this series or know of another share universe?

Reminds me of CrossGen, the short-lived comic book publisher. It was a collection of series that all existed in the same universe and had some consistent concepts, but each storyline was unique, by different authors with different artists.

There was The Mongoliad/Foreworld saga which had contributions from several authors.
Malazan – shared by 2 authors
Also, one of the pillars of contemporary fantasy
The Malazan books. Two authors, Steven Erikson and Ian Esslemont. Iirc, they were both in a dnd group back in college, but then went their separate ways and had their own careers.
After ~ 20 years as a working archeologist, years, Erikson took a writer’s work decided to use some of the characters and plot as inspiration, and ended up going *all the way* and writing *the most epic fantasy series ever* (no exageration)
And then Esslemont called him up and asked if he could start writing in that same universe, using his own characters from their games back in the day. He has a different voice but it’s all straight fire as far as I’m concerned
