I really liked Homegoing, Flowers for Algernon, Story of Your Life, and TPODG. I know they’re quite different, but those are books/novellas/short stories that have changed my life. Looking to get back into reading after a rough school year, and I want to feel something.
I really hated The Alchemist, so please do not recommend that one.

I feel like East of Eden by Steinbeck changed my life this way. I’d say it’s a bit historical and a bit philosophical. I also hated the Alchemist so hopefully we’re on the same wavelength.
