I want to give my father a book as a gift. He hasn't been reading books for 7 years. He was an avid reader before. He always liked self-help books. Also he loves psychology and history. He is an emotional person so I think he is also interested in slice of life type of books. I would like it if it made him emotional. When it comes to his hated, I-don't-want-to read genres, they are sci-fi and fantasy. He doesn't care about them and won't bother. Opposite of me. So it is really hard for me to choose a book for him. If you have suggestions, I would like to hear them⭐

[Stoner by John Williams](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/166997.Stoner?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=GdtFM9jGur&rank=3) – the MMC is an emotional character, and the story itself is melancholy (well-written and thoughtful)
[All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18143977-all-the-light-we-cannot-see) – historical fiction (WW2 France), the characters are deep and well developed
[A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18774964-a-man-called-ove) – curmudgeon meets lively/loving family
