One of my favorite books is The Giver, and i just love that type of concept and genre. I’ve read it over and over but as a mid twenty year old who is dipping their toes into reading more, I’m looking for something a little bit deeper and complex with a similar message/meaning.
I’d also love any suggestions in general within the sci-fi/dystopian genre!

Have you read the sequels? There are 3, I loved them all because they expand on that universe and some of the themes introduced in the first one. I’ll get back to you with more Sci fi recs, my husband is a constant reader. I loved A Wrinkle In Time which is I believe geared toward the same audience as The Giver and has several good sequels as well.
The book I’ve read that made me feel most like how The Giver made me feel is The Scorpion Rules by Erin Bow.
