Hit upon this book while browsing through the library aisles. A memoir it is written about the personal ups and downs the author faced while battling cancer.
Seemed like a good memoir in the beginning but I felt like the author wasn’t able to make a strong impression on the readers. On the positive side – 1. the author was able to convey a great loving bond between a daughter and a father which I must admit will make many daughters jealous because unfortunately not many fathers have that kind of a genuine bond with their daughters. 2. The author used refreshing humor throughout the book. Some of the punchlines made me laugh out loud.
On the flip side however, the author wasn’t able to convey a greater message to the readers especially given the fact that she battled cancer. I know, it’s her story and she told it the best way she saw fit but as a reader, I felt there was something missing. A few chapters in and I felt I was drifting off. Having said, I’m glad she had the support of family and friends while she went through the worst phase of her cancer treatment. Wish her well.
