I’m just gonna tell you right now this is 100% a first world problem and isn’t worth complaining about, but I’m going to anyways because I’m annoyed. Years ago I was known to order books off Amazon a lot since it’s the quickest and easiest way to get books, especially since my closest bookstore is 45 minutes away.

But the last couple years I have stopped ordering from them since I seemed like every single book I received had the same weirdly textured, almost rubbery cover that I hate. And every single time the pages were always a very thick and stiff paper that was completely stark white, different from the pages in most standard books. It was honestly just like straight up printer paper. Again, I know it’s a silly thing to complain about but the main reason I always read physical books as opposed to using a kindle or my phone is because I like the feel of the pages and I enjoy displaying them on my bookshelf.

A few days ago, I took a chance with a book on Amazon because I had accidentally bought the third book in The Housemaid series written by Freida McFadden because I thought it was the sequel. So since I was already at home I just decided to order it off Amazon to get it here quickly so I could read it. Like I said, this is a series, so in theory the books should have the same pages, materials etc. Nope. I wish I was able to show a picture for comparison but honestly if you take a piece of printer paper and hold it up to the pages of any of your books, you’ll basically get the idea of what Amazon books look like. I don’t know when this change occurred or why it’s being done, but I’m not a fan.
