Context: I was a very, VERY avid reader in my teens. Read about 2 books a week, spent my lunch hour at the school library reading, spent my evenings reading… But I lost that as I grew up. About two years ago, I bought a Kobo, trying to get back to it, and it worked well for a bit, but I soon stopped again. Overall, since then, I read "The Expanse" books 1-4 and a bit of 5, I read The Martian and I read the first two stories of Hyperion. That's it. I think part of it is my book choices, The Expanse was a really big series to start with and Hyperion is quite… complicated? At least a bit…
Anyway, I'm now looking for more simple reads to try and truly get back into reading. Ideally, I'd like something more fantasy related, since that's what I grew up with (going back to the roots and all that), easy to read (think YA, but more mature?) and not part of a 10 book series or a bigger universe (1-5 books max).
As reference, stuff I was reading as a teen: Mortal Instruments, Inheritance Cycle (Eragon), Fablehaven, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter…
I could try to go back to some of these, but I feel like I wouldn't enjoy them as much as an adult? So if you have any experience with that, feel free to share too.
