Nonfiction/Memoir preferably, fiction also acceptable.
Backstory: I just read the memoir 'girlhood', which is a story about a pretty girl who gets raped and her life after, and how the patriarchy played in. I was having some pretty strong reactions to it as someone who does not relate at all to any of her experience. I'd like a story in a similar vein to this book, examining the patriarchy but from the opposite perspective: An ugly girl who gets ignored by men/boys, bullied for her looks and or weight. Without the glow up at the end/shallow hal vibes. I am looking for something for my book club to read. A group of skinny beautiful women who I'd like to see read a book from the perspective of someone like me.
