I'm going to the library tomorrow to check out some books to read on the plane. I was going to check out the Sherlock Holmes novels as I haven't read them yet but predictably they're all checked out. I'm fine with murder mysteries but I'm not into super gory or scary shit at the moment. Mentions of SA are fine, but once again not super disturbing on page stuff, I'm just trying to relax a bit and I happen to do that best with a little suspense. Stuff that's reminiscent of movies like Knives Out or Enola Holmes or podcasts like The Magnus Archives would be amazing!! I'm just really not looking for the typical small town serial killer going after young women type of deal. Also I really want to see the protagonist be pushed to their limits and experience some character development, like having a vigilante arc or having to admit that they aren't perfect and need to rely on other people more, I eat that shit up. Also some Found Family. Romantic subplots are optional but appreciated but they must be WELL WRITTEN OR I WILL SMASH AND JUMP OUT THE DAMN PLANE WINDOW AND IT WILL BE ALL YOUR FAULT THAT I'M ON THE NEWS, BE WARNED!!!!! I also love a good atmospheric novel, whether we're talking a foggy foresty island, or a grey, gritty city or an old pretentious campus or even just suburbia as long as its described in a way where I can see it all in my head.

I’m not a huge mystery reader or lover, but I really enjoyed Everyone in my Family has Killed Someone! I just finished the sequel, Everyone on this Train is a Suspect, and it was good, too, but I didn’t love it like O did the first.

I enjoyed the Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny.

If you want something more Agatha Christie-esque, check out the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters.
