Looking for a book that I won't be able to or don't want to put down.
Books in my recent reading history that possessed that quality for me were:
- Piranesi By Susanna Clarke
- Parable of the Sower/Talents by Octavia E. Butler
- Pet Sematary by Stephen King
- All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy
- The Lathe of Heaven Ursula K. Le Guin
- Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
- The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin
I want to be absorbed into a world that will have me forget that I am reading a book. Doesn't have to be Speculative Fiction, I like all genres across the board and across all ages. Just want to fuel my lust for reading.

Blake Crouch’s man-on-the-run sci-fi thriller **Dark Matter**. It ramps up within the first two pages. Written in first-person point-of-view, the reader is trying to figure out what is happening at the same rate the protagonist is.
Got a good one for you, especially if you like Cormac McCarthy and horror
A Prayer for the Dying by Stewart O’Nan
A brutal epidemic sweeps through a small town in the 1800s, bringing widespread death as well as fear and paranoia. It’s from the perspective of the town’s pastor/sheriff/undertaker who tries to remain true to his faith while his sanity begins to slip away.
If you like fantasy, you might enjoy Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse.
