What’s up guys! Just finished rereading Bret Easton Ellis’s The Shards. It has become one of my favorites, maybe even my favorite ever, tied with Donna Tartt’s The Secret History. I love the paranoia, the atmospheric language, the darkness with the Trawler and the Cult and (spoiler alert) how it never really gets totally solved. I love a mystery like this where we are forced to think about it after we finish, rather than having everything tied up nicely which feels formulaic and cheesy to me. I love the good psycho-sexual fever dream thriller. Funny thing is, every time I reread The Shards, I try to read anything else by Ellis and can’t get into it, so bear that in mind.
TLDR: Give me a good psycho-sexual fever dream thriller like The Shards or The Secret History
