So most of my life I've generally not read anything unless the story/genre interested me. Due to this, I've not read a lot of "classic" literature (say anything pre 1920 but maybe a decade or two later) so please suggest classics you think will be enjoyable purely on the quality of the story. Preferably, if you see someone making the same suggestion, up vote it as in a day or two I'll look at this and make a commitment to reading the top 3 voted suggestions (maybe more if this gets a large amount of responses.) do not suggest horror or fantasy as I love those and thus will have likely read the classics. I've also read Shogun because as a kid I was like "Hey, I'm a geeky gamer and anime dweeb. I like Samurai. Sure, I'll read this 50lb book." 😅

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

It’s not a short book by any means but the story is definitely worth it. One of the best books I‘ve ever read
