I finished reading Forty Rules of Love today morning. In all honesty, I found myself being disconnected from the current main characters.
There were times when I was also frustrated with certain explanations for whatever was going on in Rumi and Shams's story from a gender perspective.
I realised that I might have felt this way because I have very little to no knowledge about Sufism. I would like to learn more about it to make a more informed decision about the story given the time it was set in.
What would you suggest to a complete newbie like me?
