Entertaining reads on the CIA/KGB

I just finished watching Icarus and the whole KGB/FSB thing has me FASCINATED now. I would love to get a more thorough look at these agencies during the cold war, and the FSB post collapse. How did they operate? Why were they successful? How did the KGB adapt after the fall?
