My father is terminally ill and likely doesn't have a lot of time left. I have three young kids (ages 6-9), and I'm really not sure how to explain his upcoming death to them. My husband and I are not religious, so I was wondering if anyone knew any good kids books that might help explain death/grieving from a non-religious view or maybe a book that has a story about kids losing a grandparent. A picture book would be best for my two younger ones, but my older son is able to read chapter books at a 5th grade level.
Bonus points if you have suggestions for adults. I've already read "Being Mortal" and "When breath becomes air" and thought both were fantastic.
Thanks!
