I'm looking for a story (fiction or dramatization) that is liberating and uplifting, not stoic or resolute.
Please, no metaphysics or self-help books, although the story may be surreal or absurd (absurd as in the philosophy and narrative style of absurdism).
It shouldn't be about triumph or overcoming hardship. I'm not looking for a book with a happy ending.
I'd like something where the protagonist learns to work with the realities of the world they're living in, and stops focusing on the things they can't change.

This is kind of threading the needle because there is a triumph but not really.
