I’ve read my fair share of contemporaries, but for the past three years I haven’t been able to find one that interested me. I’m not into fantasy, romance novels, sci fi, retellings or many mysteries/ thrillers, but here are a few modern stories I enjoyed:
-
Everything written by Taylor Jenkins Reid
-
Cultish by Amanda Montell
-
Just Kids by Patti Smith
-
Meredith Alone by Claire Alexander
-
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely fine by Gail Honeyman
I didn’t enjoy Otessa Moshfegh’s books due to the lack of substance or a real story, especially in My Year and Homesick for another world.
