Starve Acre was a really good folk horror book I read recently. Very atmospheric and creepy.

For literary/religious theme horror, Charles Williams’ Descent Into Hell has a lot of disturbing moments. It also is very much a social satire at times, so it’s not a straight-up horror book, but there are a few things in it that haunt me still.

    2. Tender is the Flesh – Agustina Bazterrica

Mexican Gothic (controversial on here, ok yes it wasn’t the best written book ever but I enjoyed the read) – Silvia Moreno-Garcia
