Hi! So basically, I’ve been kind of obsessed with pirates lately whether it’s rewatching POTC, watching Black Sails, playing Black Flag and reading/learning about the Golden Age of Piracy plus all the big pirate captains involved in that period. Because of this, naturally I’ve been looking to find literally any decent pirate books to read lol.
I know Treasure Island is a classic so I definitely plan on checking that out at some point, but two other ones I found that sound promising are “On Stranger Tides” by Tim Powers and “Pirate Latitudes” by Michael Crichton, although apparently it’s a rough draft from before he died.
As for a non-fiction book, I already own “A General History of the Pirates” by Charles Johnson but I’m thinking of reading “Republic of Pirates” by Colin Woodard, since I’m a fan of Black Sails and also want to learn more about the actual history, since I’ve been working on a story idea that I want to feel accurate. Anyways, as for the ones that I mentioned above(fiction and non fiction), which would you recommend if you’ve read them? Any other recs would be cool too. Thanks!
