My nephew turns 13 very soon and I'm trying to find books for him. He's a very advanced reader, but obviously still just a young teen. No interest in romance; loves adventure, sci-fi, and fantasy. He's read just about everything that might be considered a classic. He has really enjoyed Rick Riordan, especially the Magnus Chase books. He also enjoyed the Tristan Strong books and the Spiderwick Chronicles. He is an avid reader, so he's read most of the really popular series for his age group.

    1. The Hobbit, then Lord of the Rings. LOTR will stretch a 13 year with its language, but it is an epic book. Best if he hasn’t seen the movies beforehand – they are a joy to watch afterward.

*Artemis Fowl* is a good one! Just pretend that the movie doesn’t exist.

If he likes graphic novels, the classic *Adventures of Tintin* comics are delightful. Just make sure you get the more modern compilations that remove the mildly racist ones. (i.e. *Tintin in the Congo.*)

*Peter and the Starcatchers* is Peter Pan retold as YA fantasy, and it’s a lot better than that description makes it sound. When I was a teen, I remember checking one of those books out from the library and finishing it in under 24 hours; it was ~500 pages long. They’re real page-turners lol.

The Way Back, by Gavriel Savit

A Snake Falls to Earth, by Darcie Little Badger (This might be YA)

The Righteous Revenge of Artemis Bonner (YA?)

      The Inquisitor’s Tale

      Root Magic, by Eden Royce

The Girl and the Ghost, by Hanna Alkaf
