I am so confused as to why Mina Harker was sleeping in the asylum that Renfield was in.
I scoured Cliff’s Notes and it says “Mina was visiting Renfield”, but this was the ***beginning*** of chapter 18. A***fterward, also*** in chapter 18, the gang (Dr. Helsing, and everyone in the presence of Mina) have established that Renfield was in alliance and coalition with Dracula, and that Dracula CAN enter once invited.
Helsing was once very aggravated because of the death of Lucy (and his unattendance of her, leading to her mother removing the garlic blossoms). All of them know how much horror they went through attending to Lucy, why repeat that? Why were they so careless?
It’s like they’ve learned nothing?
Why be so inadvertent to leave Mina
1. unattended
2. unprotected with no protections, lest she encounters Dracula in his hunt? (as did Lucy)also, IN A ROOM WITH A WINDOW?
3. left alone in the house with a homicidal madman (who knows her name, life,..)
I’d appreciate avid readers and analysts in filling this gap in understanding of mine. Thank you so very much.
