Hi! Context is I loved Middlemarch, easily my favorite book of all time, and immediately after I read Portrait of a Lady, which was pretty alright but I was in the hospital and so I had nothing to do but binge that book and I learned that 70 pages is my limit for Victorian English; I pushed my limit and I've mentally exploded. If I have to read another page of Victorian realism I'm going to actually die! Therefore, I'd like a book that's both short (the latter two were kind of behemoths), not set in Victorian England (I need a break from marriage) and not in that era; as for what I've previously read I loved the Picture of Dorian Gray, Catch-22, Never Let Me Go, and To Kill a Mockingbird (which I realize doesn't give you a lot to go off my bad, I just need something of a sort of palette cleanser LOL I wanted to read Dickens and Austen before and still do but I'm worried I'll get sick of that style of writing if I go into it now)
