Hi guys!
I just read The Women by Kristin Hannah and holy cow, that book was sad and HOLY COW that book was so well written. I’m in dire need of another amazingly written 5-star read, but i mentally cannot handle another gut-wrenching Kristin Hannah book
I’m open to most genres, but cutesy romcoms aren’t really my thing- I usually lean towards historical fiction, fantasy, mystery, & thriller books. I’m not at all against romance being a subplot, but I’m also not really looking for a cheesy beach read either
I always try to look for books with happy endings, but it’s so hard to tell without unintentionally spoiling in the process of researching! I appreciate any recs 🙂

My last great read was Semi-Gloss by Joe Barrett. So well written.
“Tom Lake” by Ann Patchett!
Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik
The Hike by Drew Magary is a roller coaster of a read. It’s really an indescribable fantasy-adjacent book. The ending is one of the most satisfying I’ve ever read. Not gut wrenching and 5-stars for me. *And* the book has a potty-mouthed talking crab character named Crab 😉
If you’re open to very long books, [The Hands of the Emperor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/af2bba9c-8f41-4a3e-b87a-8532a44ccb67) by Victoria Goddard! It’s a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.
