My grandpa is in his 90s, his birthday is in a few months and I'd like to get him a book or maybe two.

His favorite fiction series is about a detective in the Twin Cities, I think it's the Mac Mckenzie Series, but I'm not 100% certain. He also has an anthology of Jack London's stories, and that seems like a vibe for him. My grandpa enjoys hunting and fishing, but at this point it's more so he can go and be in nature or with family, not so much about catching the big one anymore. I'm considering getting him The Maneatters of Kumaon by Jim Corbett, since I've heard Corbett was actually a big advocate for creation of national parks in India, and providing wildlife education to the public and it has good reviews, but idk if I'm sold on it yet.

In regards to other non-fiction, he has been reading a lot about astor-physics. He bought relatives copies of Stephen Hawking's books because he finds them interesting (very wholesome imo). He was an electrical engineer for years, so he likes physics, but enjoys learning about lots of different subjects. History, patterns in ecosystems, trains and submarines, etc.

Last time I got him books they were Kindred: Neanderthal Life, Love, Death and Art by Rebecca Wragg Sykes, and A Question of Honor: The Kosciuszko Squadron by Lynne Olson and Stanley Cloud. He seems to have enjoyed both, he told me he couldn't decide which to read first because he wanted to read both lol.

A final note, my grandpa is a Navy combat vet. He doesn't brag about it, and it was only a few years of his life, but at the same time he has a photo of damage to the ship, just above his turret, where a big shell almost got him. I wouldn't say he's adverse to war related books, I remember when I was younger he'd page through my WWII history books, but I guess what I'm saying is they shouldn't be unnecissarily glorifying war. No unnecissary toxic machismo. He's a thoughtful dude.
