My husband has gotten back into reading and loves horror. He's been going through some of the "Top" lists and while he appreciates them as great books, what he really wants is some hack and slash monster mayhem.
I want to try and find something that isn't the Alien or Warhammer series. Some things he's read recently and his comments:
Only Good Indians- "Very good but I was promised an Elk-monster"
Ubik- "Prefer not to have people killing each other"
Roadside Picnic- "really loved the environmental danger and tension
Things like Mexican Gothic and Everfall were a bit slow to start , Starship Troopers he wanted more bugs. He likes environmental tension as in Haunting of Hill House, body horror is fine, but there needs to be quite a bit more action.
Attempts to steer him towards action books like Blake Crouch weren't scary enough. Does anyone have some suggestions?
