Been trying to reignite my love of reading and saw this in a Tesco. Since I’ve no real love for my family I picked it up based on the title alone thinking it’s self explanatory on the genre. Not a genre I would have gone for before but was looking for something that wouldn’t necessarily be a sequel and it’s an engaging genre if done well.
Long story short I’ve read the first two chapters and I’ve been wondering, who is this book written for? The jokes at times are stale repetitions of things I’ve seen on the internet. I haven’t seen a single trait in the main character that makes me feel like caring about her or her story, unless there’s a bigger reason for her motivations later on in the book? Would sticking it out justify her anger? Trying not to be spoilery.
I haven’t read books in a while, is this the new type of protagonist that’s popular? Am I reaching beyond my preferred genres? Should I stick to what I know? Or is this woman really that stale and shallow?
