Hi all, I’m looking for suggestions for travelogues that aren’t by Bill Bryson and where the author doesn’t spend 50% of the book rambling about all the things he hates about society in general. I’ve read and enjoyed Jerome K Jerome’s Three Men in a Boat, and recall enjoying Will Ferguson’s Hitching Rides with Buddha/Hokkaido Highway Blues and Beauty Tips from Moose Jaw.

Into the Heart of Borneo by Redmond O’hanlon is awesome.
I don’t know if this fits with the type of book your looking for but I thoroughly enjoyed “Brit At The Ballpark” – An Englishman’s Tour Of All 50 States by Peter Taylor
Tracks by Robyn Davison. Crossed 1700 miles of Australian Outback with her dog and 3 camels in 1977 at the age of 27. I read it several years ago but i think about it a lot.
Confederates in the Attic, Tony Horowitz
And his follow up book Spying on the South. May his memory be a blessing
Travels with Charley by John Steinbeck is great
