Right so I do love me some damaged people lol. I tend to relate to a lot of them in different ways, books like Demian by Herman Hesse, Notes from The underground, The Silver Lining. And most of these were male oriented because that’s what I relate to but I did read some like Where the crawdads sing and Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine which I absolutely loved and it’s interesting to see life from a female perspective. It doesn’t need to be necessarily super dark but as long as it’s interesting and from a female pov i’ll check it out.

I loved Jackie Collins’ Lucky Santangelo series. Chances is the first book, the series follows Lucky throughout her whole life — from mob boss’s daughter to movie mogul and Vegas Hotelier.
Fiction:
Memoirs of a Geisha
Girl With a Pearl Earring
The Bell Jar
Non-fiction (memoirs):
The Kiss by Kathryn Harrison (TW: incest)
Girl, Interrupted
Half a Life by Jill Ciment
The Glass Castle
*Rattlesnake Wind* is one I chanced upon a while back that I really liked.
