the mad scientist/crazy doctor trope is my favourite by far in any form of media – especially when given character is morally grey or straight up the antagonist. that being said, i find myself struggling to find books along those lines that would honestly interest me. i do have a preference for the character happening to be gay (but not in a way that takes up the plot and turns into the driving force, even just being vaguely queer-coded is enough)
i'd say the general vibe of a book im reaaaally looking for is a mix of rick yancey's 'the monstrumologist' series, urasawa's 'monster', and maybe even glukhovsky's style. (and of course frankenstein and dr. jekyll)
it doesn't matter to me how long or how short it is, i just want ANYTHING. something that's maybe even character-driven, but has no romance whatsoever.
