So, I use Audible, and generally listen to the book rather than reading. Therefore, the narrator may have had effect too. Because I tried Donna’s “The Little Friend,” but couldn’t make it.

I have been searching for a similar book that I would listen to while driving and in the gym. However, no success. I had a such a delight listening to the books on the title. Nothing specific, I guess I just felt aligned with the protagonist, young male, alone, wandering in the world. I just like the simplicity of their lives while it’s being complicated. I fall in love with those books. I tried other books without a similar taste.

    I tried:
    – The Little Friend (It felt so sad, and the protagonist, I couldn’t align with)
    – Kafka At the shore (I’m so confused about this book)
    – The Witcher (too much fantasy)
    – The Year of Magical Thinking (couldn’t align with the narrator I guess)
    – The silent patient (I did kind of like it, but not much)
    – The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy (too much fantasy)
    – Dark Matter (Fantasy)

I was able to finish the last three, others, I couldn’t even get past the first couple pages.

Any book suggestions with a good story writing, that is long and engaging, that is something to feel mirrored myself in? I’m not looking anything in particular like it doesn’t have to be crime or twisted ending. But I tend to dislike surreality unless it’s well orchestrated (Read Harry Potter as a child and liked it).
