Psychological thrillers with unhappy endings?

Hello all!
I'm seeking psychological thrillers with unhappy endings. ( no revenge, no rescue, etc. )
Preferably with a male aggressor and victims which are female or entire families. I'm pretty new to the genre, so I don't have much to go on, but I enjoyed "And Then She Was Gone" … I tried "The Family Upstairs" , but felt the ending was too 'happy' for my preferences. The more sense of betrayal, loss of trust, etc. the better.
